Advancing Sustainability Through Innovation – BioLaMer Project Showcased at Manufacturing & Supply Chain Conference 2025

BioLaMer project, funded by EIC Pathfinder Open, was featured and exhibited at the Manufacturing & Supply Chain Conference & Exhibition held at RDS Simmonscourt, Dublin, from 28–29 May 2025. Our participation aligned with the conference theme of “Sustainability” and was made possible through our project’s communication partner SocLineTech Solutions & Services, Cork Ireland.

A Hub for Innovation and Collaboration:

This two-day event brought together industry leaders, researchers, innovators, students, and members of the public to explore advancements in manufacturing and sustainable technologies. With a dynamic mix of exhibits, discussions, and networking opportunities, the conference served as a powerful platform for knowledge exchange and collaboration.

Showcasing the BioLaMer Project – Shaping a greener future with Bioplastics:

A key objective of our presence was to showcase the innovative research behind next-generation bioplastics and biopolymers, developed from food waste using the Black Soldier Fly Larvae (BSFL) pathway. At our booth, visitors had the opportunity to explore samples of these biopolymers and bioplastics, created through the BioLaMer project, and learn about their potential to replace conventional petroleum-based plastics in a wide range of applications.

Our team provided detailed insights into the science and sustainability of each sample, emphasizing how these bio-based polymers can reduce reliance on fossil fuels and contribute to circular economy objectives.

In addition to presenting our innovations, the event offered a valuable opportunity to engage directly with stakeholders and gain insights into public awareness and perceptions of bioplastics. This interaction allowed us to gather targeted feedback from participants, which will inform our next steps in material development, communication strategies, and the creation of policy support materials. We extend our special thanks to our project partners at HEI-Lab – Human Environment Interaction Lab, Lusófona University, Lisbon, for designing a thoughtful and insightful questionnaire.

We extend our heartfelt thanks to the presenters – BioLaMer coordinator Sibu Padmanabhan, Samuele Messina and Sukhananazerine Abdulla from Trinity College Dublin, and Eniya Mariappan from SocLineTech Solutions & Services – for their outstanding contributions and impactful presentations.
