BioLaMer’s Insights at the 32nd Society for Risk Analysis – Europe Conference

BioLaMer project was presented at the renowned 32nd Annual Conference Society for Risk Analysis- Europe. This significant event took place from June 2-5 in the historic city of Athens, Greece, brought together leading professionals and researchers in the field of risk analysis, management and communication. BioLaMer partners Ana Rita Farias, Silvia Luis, Samuel Domingos, and Bernardo Cruz from HEI-Lab Human Environment Interaction Lab at Universidade Lusófona – Centro Universitário Lisboa contributed their relentless efforts in disseminating the bioplastics research and impact executed within the project.

Key Aspects of our Presentation:

Our talk focused on the critical challenges facing the bioplastics sectors. We provided an in-depth analysis of the major hurdles in commercialization and production, along with the barriers related to consumer perception. These insights are important for driving innovation and addressing obstacles in the industry, paving the way for a more sustainable future.

Additionally, our partner Samuel Domingos was elected to become the member of the board during SRA-E general assembly.

Poster presentation on public perceptions of Bioplastics:

In this event, poster presentation was delivered by Bernardo Cruz, titled “Public Perceptions of Bioplastics: Insights from a Sentiment Analysis on Reddit.” This presentation revealed the results of our extensive sentiment analysis conducted on Reddit, highlighting trends and shifts in public opinion towards bioplastics over the years. The results derived using SPSS software provided valuable insights into consumer attitudes and potential strategies for better communication and engagement.
