BioLaMer Research showcased at ESBES 2024 Symposium

BioLaMer project partner, Roshanak Agharafeie from Universidade Nova de Lisboa, had participated and presented at the 14th European Symposium on Biochemical Engineering Sciences, held from October 21st to 23rd, 2024, in Copenhagen, Denmark.

At the event, she delivered an engaging oral presentation, titled “Deep Hybrid Modelling of a Supercritical CO2 Extraction Process”. Her talk highlighted the progress of the modelling of the Sc-CO2 extraction process, which was aimed at improving a model-by-model complexity reduction of the extraction process by combining the datasets obtained from real experiments.

By leveraging deep hybrid modeling framework, the research combines experimental data with computational techniques, allowing to improve prediction accuracy. This approach not only improves process efficiency but also contributes to the goal of sustainable biomanufacturing. The Supercritical CO2 extraction method presents a greener alternative to traditional solvent-based techniques, eliminating the need for chemical solvents by utilizing Carbon dioxide as a natural solvent.
