Monesh Kumar Thirugnanasambandam, a partner from NOVAID and a member of the BioLaMer project team, actively participated and presented at a series of prestigious international conferences: the 5th European Congress of Chemical Engineering (ECCE), the 8th European Congress of Applied Biotechnology (ECAB), and the 3rd Iberoamerican Congress on Chemical Engineering (CIBIQ). These events were jointly held in Lisbon, Portugal, from 8–10 September 2025.
Advancing Bioprocess Digitalization Through Innovative Research
During the congress, Monesh delivered an engaging flash talk entitled “Physics-Informed Neural Networks: A Paradigm Shift in Bioprocess Digitalization?” The presentation highlighted the cutting-edge Physics-Informed Neural Network (PINN) modelling techniques developed within the BioLaMer project.
The talk focused on how PINNs integrate fundamental physical laws with data-driven machine learning approaches, offering a powerful framework for improving model accuracy, robustness, and scalability. These advanced computational methods have the potential to significantly transform digital bioprocessing, enabling more efficient process optimization, enhanced predictive capabilities, and smarter decision-making in biotechnology applications.

Strengthening BioLaMer’s Scientific Impact
Participation in these scientific forums provided an excellent platform to disseminate BioLaMer’s research and exchange knowledge with the global scientific community and increase interdisciplinary collaboration.
