BioLaMer Project is sharing another significant step forward in its innovative journey. Every project’s success hinges on its implementation. Taking the first definitive step towards action, we have successfully completed the transformative business coaching program titled “Empowering University Researchers: Design Thinking & Business Model Canvas”. This workshop was supported by the European Innovation Council (EIC Pathfinder Open) under the grant agreement no. 101099487 and has provided our team with invaluable knowledge and skills to propel the project to new heights.
Team Members:
Our dedicated team members from the BioLaMer project – Dr Sibu Padmanabhan and Dr Sivakumar Krishnan from AMBER Centre, Trinity College Dublin, Ireland; Prof Serena Righi from University of Bologna, Italy; Ms Neda Tozija from TransfoLAB BCN, Spain; Dr Diana Araujo from NOVAID School of Science and Technology, Portugal; and Ms Eniya Mariappan from SocLineTech Solutions & Services, Ireland – actively participated in the workshop. Through interactive sessions, practical exercises, and live examples, the team gained impactful insights and practical strategies to advance the BioLaMer project’s mission.

Workshop Overview & Highlights:
The workshop was meticulously designed to inspire entrepreneurial thinking and foster a culture of innovation. Through this program, our team members were offered cutting-edge tools, frameworks, and techniques to translate the scientific research ideas into actionable business models. The sessions started with Design Thinking consisting of Diverge (for problem space) and Converge (for space) approaches. The following sessions provided insights into various topics such as Empathy Map, Value Proposition Canvas, SCAMPER tool and Business Model.
- Hands-on Learning: Complex theoretical concepts were simplified through an engaging, interactive approach, encouraging the teams to transform theory into actionable strategies.
- Collaborative Exercises: Role-playing scenarios, teamwork activities, and the real-world case studies created an immersive learning experience that aligned with our project goals.
- Entrepreneurship Skills: Practical applications of the Business Model Canvas during the workshop offered a clear roadmap for turning innovative research concepts into scalable business solutions.
Looking Ahead:
With these new tools and methodologies, the BioLaMer project is now better equipped to transform ambitious ideas into sustainable and actionable solutions. This milestone reinforces our commitment to innovation, growth and the pursuit of meaningful impact. We are eager to apply these learning and insights to create an innovative impact and business solutions for the future.
