AquaInSilico showcasing BioLaMer Project at IFAT Munich

BioLaMer project partners Dr Jorge Santos, Dr Virginia Carvalho and Dr Sara Reis from AquaInSilico, Lisbon, proudly showcased BioLaMer project activities at the IFAT Munich 2024, which was held from 13-17 May, 2024 at Munich, Germany. AquaInSilico’s unique display provided an ideal setting to promote the BioLaMer project, engaging with stakeholders on innovative solution for food waste. Our participation aligns perfectly with IFAT’s focus on sustainable resource management, underscoring our commitment to innovative environmental solutions.

Event Overview:

IFAT Munich is the world’s leading trade fair for environmental technologies, showcasing innovations and solutions in water, sewage, waste, and raw materials management. As part of a global network, IFAT extends its reach with events in China, India, Brazil, South Africa, and Turkey. These events address the specific challenges and opportunities of their respective markets, bringing together decision-makers in the environmental technology sector. With a commitment to sustainability and future-oriented solutions, IFAT Munich provides a platform for industry leaders to collaborate and innovate. This year, the event attracted a global audience, featuring over 3,200 exhibitors and 142,000 visitors from around 170 countries, and the theme of IFAT 2024 is “Adapting to the results of climate change”.

AquaInSilico’s Notable Moments:

Exhibition Stand: AquaInSilico had a dedicated stand at the expo, where they showcased the projects they are working on including BioLaMer over the five-day exhibition. The stand served as an ideal platform to showcase BioLaMer project activities and its impacts and engage with a global audience, fostering new connections and collaborations.

Solution Tours: AquaInSilico were part of one of the 19 SOLUTION TOURS. Their participation in the “Start-up Tour: Innovative Solutions for the Public Sector” highlighted its cutting-edge solutions and projects and their impact on the industry. AquaInSilico’s involvement underscored its commitment to developing innovative solutions that address critical challenges in water and waste management.

Disseminating the BioLaMer Project: One of the key highlights of their presence at IFAT Munich was the dissemination of the BioLaMer project. The BioLaMer project focuses on innovative approaches for the sustainable management of food waste, turning it into valuable biopolymers. During the event, AquaInSilico team engaged with several companies providing technology for food waste management, sharing insights about the project’s goals and achievements.

The BioLaMer project aims to revolutionize food waste management by transforming waste into bio-based biopolymers, significantly contributing to the reduction of petroleum-based plastic pollution. BioLaMer’s innovative approach promotes biodiversity, encourages circular economy and paving the way for sustainable future.
