BioLaMer research showcased at Symposium on Sustainable Development in Portuguese Speaking Countries

BioLaMer project partner Samuel Domingos, from Lusófona University HEI-Lab: Digital Human-Environment Interaction Labs presented the oral communication “Bioplásticos: Barreiras à produção industrial e à escolha do consumidor” at the Symposium on Sustainable Development in Portuguese Speaking Countries, which took place between March 13-14, 2025, in Coimbra, Portugal.

In this conference, that brought together researchers and professionals working in the field of sustainability in Portuguese speaking countries, BioLaMer research highlighted technological (e.g., development and scalability challenges), regulatory (e.g., inconsistent policies and lack of incentives), and psychological (e.g., uncertainty and misconceptions on biodegradability) barriers hindering production and commercialization of bioplastics.
