BioLaMer project partners from the University of Bologna, Serena Righi and Floriana Coppola, organised a communication and outreach event to engage the academic community at the university.
On 27th November 2025, Serena Righi delivered an insightful presentation on the BioLaMer project to an audience of approximately 100 attendees, including students, researchers, and faculty members. The event took place at the Ravenna Campus, in the Aula Magna of the Scientific Centre on Via Sant’Alberto, providing an ideal setting for scientific exchange and discussion.

Presentation Highlights
During the session, participants were introduced to BioLaMer’s innovative approach to valorising food waste by converting it into high-value, sustainable, and biodegradable biopolymers using Black solider fly larvae as high-impact feedstock.
The presentation explored the scientific principles underpinning the bioconversion pathway, highlighting how this model supports circular-economy strategies while offering meaningful environmental benefits. By turning organic waste streams into valuable bio-based materials, the project demonstrates a tangible pathway toward reducing waste and advancing sustainable resource management.

Engaging the Academic Community
We extend our sincere appreciation to Serena Righi and Floriana Coppola for their dedication and commitment in organising this successful event and presenting BioLaMer’s research to the wider university audience. Events such as this play a key role in strengthening collaboration, inspiring emerging researchers, and promoting sustainable innovation.
