BioLaMer project, funded by EIC Pathfinder Open, was presented during the University of Bologna Open Day on May 22, 2025, inspiring the young minds who represent the future of science and innovation.
A Platform for Innovation:
Hosted at University’s Ravenna campus, the Open Day was an important event designed to welcome prospective students and their families, offering them a first-hand look at the university’s diverse academic programs and ongoing research initiatives. As a part of this dynamic gathering, BioLaMer project objectives and the innovative work being carried out in the field of sustainable bioplastics were explained.
Communicating the project’s purpose and progress:
Our project partners Serena Righi, Floriana Coppola, and Shamraiz Ahmad from University of Bologna took the stage to introduce the vision, mission and the ongoing achievements of the BioLaMer. Their presentation focused on the project’s innovative scientific approach to tackle universal food waste problems and plastic pollution through the development of eco-friendly biodegradable biopolymers. The team also elaborated the project’s comprehensive Life Cycle Assessment conducted at each stage to ensure the environmental sustainability of the biorefinery process.

Building momentum for a greener and brighter future:
The session served as an exciting opportunity to engage with the next generation of students, future scientists and innovators. By sharing the experience of the collaborative and impactful research, the BioLaMer team highlighted how science and innovation can contribute to a more sustainable and circular future.
